Style Inspiration: Grace Kelly

Posted by Mary Gloven on

Sometimes I get a bored with my wardrobe and need a little inspiration. I find the best ideas come from flipping through the pages of a vintage Vogue, reading an old Sears catalog or watching a hollywood classic. Do you ever feel this way? You just need that something to freshen up your wardrobe. I thought it might be a good idea to share my inspirations with you!

Every month we plan on bringing you a style icon for a little wardrobe inspiration.

November's feature is: Grace Kelly

Oh, how I love Grace Kelly! She exudes the sort of flawless, feminine elegance that can only define the golden era of Hollywood Glamour during the '50s.

She had impeccable sophisticated taste, without airing on the side of overdressed. She mastered the art of looking chic in simple outfits with minimal accessories.  Here she is seen wearing trousers, a bishop sleeve blouse, and simple silk scarf.

A few months back, we had a beautiful vintage dress in the shop that was incredibly similar to the dress Grace wore in Hitchcock's Rear Window.

Grace is recognized for wearing feminine dresses with full skirts, a defined waist, and sculpted bodice. She wore the New Look era so well, in fact Christian Dior was one of her favorite designers.

Our 1950s collection includes many "New Look" dresses, I've chosen a few of my favorites to showcase. You can shop our 1950s collection by clicking on the picture below. New dresses are added daily!

Stay tuned for next month!
